This week the Beatles multi-track meltdown is the group's first single that did not reach number one. The artist and song that kept them at number two? Engelbert Humperdink's version of the 1946 song Release Me. After singing the song on Sunday Night At The London Palladium, Release Me stayed in the charts for fifty-six consecutive weeks. I've isolated the vocals, bass, morse-code guitar, mellotron overdub and strings. This mix truly highlights Lennon's fabulous vocals. I put the video together from a number of rare clips from 1967 including Lennon's appearance on Not Only But Also. Enjoy!
